Tom Conyers - AUTHOR/ARTIST/FILMMAKER
From Tom Conyers
Making a living as an artist is as difficult today as it has ever been. But in one way, it is easier to showcase one's work. The Internet has opened up new opportunities for bypassing the risk-averse, stuffy gatekeepers. But with every advance, there also seems to be an attendant regression. The digital age means books, artwork and films can easily be disseminated without any remuneration for the originator. I wish the world ran on a better system than money, but it doesn't.
I'm very grateful to those who support my endeavours.
I love telling stories, whether it be in solo work - painting, books, sculpture - or in more collaborative (but also more difficult and expensive) fare - such as film.
There are many reasons people create art, but for me, I like the idea that I might take people to somewhere surprising and thought-provoking, even if only for a couple of seconds.
